Mabel Hound (Unknown Type) Young Female for sale in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Mabel's story
I am a Hound mix girl and am about 2.5 years old. You would never know by looking at me today, but I had Parvo as a puppy. I fought through that awful illness to become the strong, beautiful dog you see today! I have a lot of great qualities. I'm completely housebroken and housetrained. However, foster mom does keep me in the crate while she's a work because I sometimes try to sneak things off the kitchen counter. Oops!! But if you can shut me off from the kitchen, I can be trusted loose in the house. I've never destroyed anything I'm not supposed to. If I do go into the crate, I may whine for a few minutes to voice my displeasure. But a blanket draped over top quiets me down pretty fast. I also appreciate a peanut butter filled Kong toy to keep me occupied while doing my crate time. Split antlers are great too!
My favorite thing is to snuggle up next to my person on the couch or bed. I like to lean into them and put my head on their shoulder or lap. I'll fall right to sleep in that position and keep you nice and warm too! I get along just fine with all my foster brothers and sisters. However, when I first meet a dog, I may bark at them because I'm not sure if they're friend or foe. Speaking of barking, I don't do that a lot unless I'm at the adoption events. (It's pretty stressful for me and I'm trying to tell everyone I want out of there.) But I don't do that at home. However, if a stranger passes by, I will definitely let you know! I have one of those deep hound howl/barks. It's pretty loud. So even though I don't bark often while at the house, I probably wouldn't be welcomed in an apartment setting.
There's an old kitty here. I like to smell her when foster mom is holding her. I'm not sure how I feel about her. There are no children in my foster home, but I've never shown any aggression to anyone I've met. I'm a strong girl at about 75 lbs, and tend to pull on my leash. For that reason, I really need a harness so I don't choke myself. I'm working on my manners and getting better every day. I can "sit", "down" and "shake". Unfortunately, I do tend to get excited and jump on people. My new family will need to help break me of that issue by not rewarding me with attention until I have all four paws on the ground.
All in all, I'm a sweet girl who would love to find my forever family. Could that be you?
